Closing Ceremony and Party
After the last game and the medal ceremony we went back to the hotel for drinks with some of the Old School and to get ready for the closing ceremony. We marched off toward the cricket oval tired, but happy. But when we got there it was quite a disappointment with people just milling around not knowing quite what to do, it was a sad way to end the games. There was nothing much to see and little to do, people were tired and after the magnificent opening ceremony it was quite an anti-climax. No one was allowed to take alcohol onto the field to watch the show so much of the crowd sat in the bars and tried to keep warm.

Most of the Cruisers split up and went off to do their own thing for the evening. But a few of us and the boys went back into town downed far too many cocktails and fizzy wine and decided it would be a really good idea to go to the very expensive farewell Party. It was in fact a top idea… fantastic venue at Fox Studios with practically all of it at our disposal we certainly had plenty of room to cruise round. With numerous disco’s, bars, food stalls and 3 massive dance floors to choose from we wore ourselves out just going from one to another let alone dancing the night away.
