October 2008: Women went to Berlin to take part in a one day competition which celebrated Seitzenwechsal 20th anniversary.

July/August 2008: The men and the women both took two teams each, women's 1 came second.

May 2008: Women attended Paris tournament, came second.

August 2007Tournament to present tense and that London Cruisers won tournament and teams from Paris, Amsterdam, America, Russia attended.

March 2007:  
Attended new lesbian and gay tournament in Dusseldorf, Germany, Women win the tournament and Men are runners up.

March 2007: A short documentary about the team is screened (to a full house) at the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival

July/August 2006: Return from the Chicago Gay Games VII and Montreal 1st Outgames with 2 gold and 1 bronze medal.

June 2006:
Paris Tournament – Cruisers men enter two teams and the over 35 team beat the younger Cruisers team in the final.

April/May 2006: Cruisers London Tournament I: 12 teams took part in a competitive day of games with qualified referees and it was a Cruiser/Cruiser final for both the men and women. There was plenty of opportunity to socialise at the party on Saturday evening at The Village Soho and the Sunday Brunch at Café Emm in Soho.

Aug 2005: Amsterdam Tigers Tournament – After the break for the eurogames the Cruisers return with 4 teams. The women’s team, in preparation for Chicago divide into an over 35s team and a younger team. Drawing against each other, they send the new energy into the final against Fatal Attraction and loose by 2 points. The men’s team also came second.

April 2005: Paris Tournament – Cruisers enter two teams, no medals this time.

April 2004: Chicago Hoop Dreams: Men return for more fun in Chicago.

August 2004: Munich Eurogames: 2 women’s and 2 men’s team enter a tough competition and enjoy the festivities in Munich.

March 2004: Chicago Hoop Dreams: Men take a team to Chicago and have a ball, sponsored by a Chicago bar

Aug 2003:
Amsterdam Tigers Tournament: The women failed to take the triple and found themselves in that unexpected Sydney position, this time behind that team to beat, Fatal Attraction and Paris.

April 2003:
Paris Tournament: The women came back from Sydney determined to prove themselves once again Paris champions, playing a tough final against Paris and walking away with gold Eiffel Towers for their efforts.

Nov 2002: This time the Cruisers women really did come home with bronze medals. The men’s teams and second women’s team had fun and played well against tough competition from US teams.

The women came first (the third successive victory) and fourth and the men's team came fourth and sixth.

April 2002:Double success: 2 men's and 2 women's teams from London were amongst the 18 international teams. The women played a tough final beating Paris. The men had a hard final beating a strong and exceedingly tall Dutch team.

2001/2002: London Metropolitan League - first season Women have a great season coming runners up to Brixton Lady Topcats. Men play well and come fifth.

August 2001: The women’s team won the tournament and at last savour the delights of long-awaited success and the men’s team come 4th.

April 2001: The women’s team got to final and lost in to Eurogames winners, Zurich. The men came 3rd.


August 2000: London 2000, Waltham Forrest: Street ball competition in London’s first lesbian and gay sporting competition. Several teams from the London Cruisers enter, one losing in the rather heated and well fought final to a team from the US.

June 2000: Eurogames, Zurich. The Cruisers arrive in force with 3 teams for a long weekend of hard basketball action and the rudimentary off-court partying, with the added entertainment of sleeping in nuclear bunkers. The men’s team won the tournament, beating Paris in what has to be the most exciting final ever, going into 2 extra times. The women entered two teams, the first team come 5th.

Autumn 1999: Form a club, first meeting 10th October 1999. London Cruisers: a fusion of lesbians and gay men from all corners of the world (Spain, Germany, Australia, Canada, UK, France, Thailand).

Spring/Summer 1999: Play outdoors in Finsbury Park. Debbie Carrington gets on the case and starts putting ads around in bars etc to get more players. Positive response, even men!!! Three excellent (fit) Spanish men — Jordi, Gustavo and Blas.

Winter 1998: Several players joined a local women’s team playing in the Surrey and London League, but find the atmosphere hostile and homophobic.

August 1998: Gay Games. The Cruisers were the only UK basketball team. The Cruisers women’s team won 3 out of 7 games and came 16th out of 35. Not a bad start.

Pride 1997: The London basketballers spotted the banner for Gay Games Amsterdam in the Gay Pride march and decided to enter a team — The Cruisers — at end of December. Training began with open women/mixed sessions in Chelsea and Battersea.

Summer 1996: The Cruisers originated from a drunken challenge to see if a European contingency could beat some North Americans in a game of basketball. This led to regular games throughout the winter with more and more people joining in.
